After Suzuki and Yamaha brought in their million-rupee bikes in India, it is now the turn of another Japanese auto major — Honda to drive in its power bikes.
Honda, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) unveiled the CBR1000RR Fireblade and the CB1000R (both 1000cc). The CBR1000RR Fireblade Rs 12.5 lakh and the CB1000R Rs. 9.5 lakh respectively (ex-showroom Delhi).
And the company sounded optimistic on demand for them, which though would be limited. “We are confident of selling around 100 bikes in the first year,” said NK Rattan, sales and marketing Head of HMSI. “The Fireblade is among the few bikes in the world to sport a combined anti-lock braking system,” he added.
Honda will sell the CBR 1000RR and CB1000R through exclusive stores in four metros – Mumbai,Delhi,Chennai and Calcutta in the first phase. Later it will be expanded to other main cities as well depending on the demand.
