The Honda Amaze is one of the most awaited launches for 2013 besides the Ford EcoSport crossover. There are reports of the Amaze sedan to be launched on the 18th of April. Honda has confirmed the launch to happen in the first quarter of the financial year 2013-14.
The Amaze sedan will help the Japanese car maker not only enter a new segment but give the company the much needed volumes. The sedan will also mark the entry in the diesel segment which the company has been absent since the company made its entry in the Indian market.
The car will be available in a choice of 1.2 litre petrol & 1.5 litre diesel engines. Honda’s Amaze is expected to deliver amazing mileage in combination with performance.
Honda recently discontinued the Jazz hatch to make room for the Amaze as the company does want to long waiting periods. Packaged intelligently the Amaze sedan will be priced competitive and could undercut the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
The compact sedan segment will see more launches in the future with Mahindra Verito Compact sedan launch happening in April end or early May. Tata Motors will also launch the Indigo eCS in a new avatar. It appears to be the compact SUV and sedan segment will be the major growth drivers for Automakers in India.
