The excitement level for motorcycle enthusiasts in India touched new heights as more than 500 Harley-Davidson owners roared on highways across the country to join an epic celebration in the heart of Goa to mark the first National H.O.G. Rally in India.
The rally also marked the beginning of a global year-long 110th Anniversary Celebration for Harley-Davidson. This special occasion was graced by Karen Davidson, Creative Director for Harley-Davidson General Merchandise. Ms. Davidson is the great- granddaughter of Harley-Davidson co-founder, William A. Davidson, and daughter of Willie G. Davidson, who recently retired after 49 years with the Motor Company and is now Harley-Davidson’s Chief Styling Officer Emeritus.
Commenting on her maiden visit to India and 110th anniversary celebration Karen Davidson said, “I am thrilled to be here riding in Goa to mark the beginning of Harley-Davidson’s 110th year. It’s always a pleasure to meet and ride alongside Harley-Davidson owners, and the level of passion and enthusiasm among India’s HOG members is remarkable!”
The 110th Anniversary is more than a singular event, it’s an epic celebration of freedom that unites each and every Harley-Davidson owner around the world and builds on the strength of the Harley community. The events will connect millions of Harley-Davidson fans across the globe, united by a common bond and shared passion for freedom, self-expression and epic adventure. Exclusive 110th anniversary merchandise will also be available in India at all the nine Harley-Davidson dealerships.
Karen Davidson’s visit marks the first visit by a ‘Davidson’ family member to India. She added that “Harley-Davidson is not a brand that belongs to any one generation or culture, it’s a brand that creates intense passion among freedom minded, adventure seeking individuals of all ages across the world.”
“It is with great pride that we welcome Karen Davidson to India for the 110th anniversary celebration and our first National H.O.G Rally. The rally marks a key milestone for leisure riding in India, with our customers riding in from across the nation to honor the bond they share with each other and the brand,” said Anoop Prakash, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India. “Their enthusiasm and passion inspires us to ensure the Harley-Davidson ownership experience remains world-class and unmatched now and for the next 110 years.”
During the event, Harley-Davidson India invited several HOG members who had clocked the most kilometers in 2012 from each of the eight HOG chapters to wear the Freedom Jacket. The jacket is adorned with emblems and patches from its journeys all over the world since August. After Goa, the jacket will travel to each of the remaining 110th year celebrations this year.
