The Auto Expo organised by SIAM is held every two years at the India Expo mart, Greater Noida. Automobile manufacturers launch/ unveil new models which are showcased to public and the media first at the Auto Expo.
Team GoaOnWheels also made a visit to experience this mega event like we do every two years.
This year there were more than 80 new unveilings and launches from several brands. 2016 Auto Expo saw more unveiling’s than launches as compared to last two Auto Expos
Major Unveilings in the passenger car space witnessed were the new compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki the Vitara Breeza, Ignis crossover, Baleno RS concept, Tata Hexa, Zica & Kite 5 compact sedan, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SRT, Honda BR–V, Renault Duster facelift, new Kwid variants, Chevrolet Beat active concept and Essentia compact sedan, Toyota’s new Innova and new Prius. Volkswagen Tiguan, Polo GTI and Passat GTE, Hyundai Carlino sub compact SUV concept, New Tucson, Sonata hybrid, Isuzu V – max 4×4, Ford Mustang, Mahindra XUV Aero concept, Verito electric, E20 Sport, Nissan X Trail hybrid, GT – R sportscar, Audi Prologue concept, Datsun GO Cross concept, Range Rover SVR and Jaguar F – Pace.
The Auto Expo also saw a big line – up of scooters and motorcycles which were launched at the Auto Expo from the likes of United Motorcycles India and Honda Navi brand. Bajaj had unveiled the new V – brand bikes and Royal Enfield unveiled the Himalayan ahead of the Auto Expo; however both Royal Enfield and Bajaj did not attend the Auto Expo.
The major launches were witnessed from the likes of Jaguars XE, BMW 7 Series and New X1, Renault Duster facelift with Easy R – AMT and Kwid 1.0 litre engine with Easy R AMT. In the commercial vehicles space Tata motors unveiled the brand new Signa range of heavy duty trucks, while Ashok Leyland unveiled the new 4940 Euro 6 tractor trailer truck.
