Ford India sales crossed the 100,000 wholesale and export sales milestone during the first ten months of the year, representing year-over-year growth of 31 percent. Sales growth has been mainly due to the success of the small carFigo.
Exports continue to grow at a steady rate with the company exporting 2,815 cars in October. Continuing its push into newer Tier two and three cities; Ford India’s opened its 200thsales and service center.

Continuing the festive mood from Diwali last week, Ford India today announced it had sold more than 100,000 wholesales units so far this year, and that sales were up 31 percent.
Ford India sold 101,439 wholesale and export vehicles from January to October, compared to 77,324 units sold during the same period last year – a 31 percent increase compared to the same time in 2010. Ford India has sold more vehicles in the first ten months of 2011 than the 2010 calendar year.
In October 2011, the company had combined wholesales and exports of 10,906 units.
“The festivities at Ford India are continuing past Diwali,” said Michael Boneham, president and managing director, Ford India. “We are so proud that more than 100,000 customers in India have chosen to drive a high quality, fuel efficient Ford vehicle. More customers in the first ten months of this year have chosen Ford than the entire 12 months of 2010. Having crossed last year’s sales figures already, we are upbeat about closing the year with a new high,” he added.
Ford Figo continues to see a surge in demand as Ford India exported 2,815 cars last month, indicating the popularity the small car enjoys in 27 markets to which it is exported.
“Exports are a strong part of our growth strategy. And it’s wonderful to see the Chennai-made Figo winning hearts of customers in overseas markets too,” Boneham said.
As part of its aggressive growth and customer service commitment, Ford India just opened its 200th sales and service outlet. It is now set to expand its sales and service network to more than 220 outlets in 120 cities by the end of this year, with new dealerships coming up at 13 new locations such as Solapur, Gulbarga and Tirupur.
Bringing alive the spirit of celebrations and festivities, ‘Ford Figo Bharat Yatra’, Ford India’s largest activation drive, successfully culminated in Kochi, Cuttack and Jalandhar on October 19. The pan-India drive covered 1,000 towns across 20 states over 100 days. The Yatra created an experiential opportunity for consumers to connect to Ford Figo –’India’s Most Awarded Car Ever’ resulting in more than 17,500 test drives and thousands of customer engagements.
The Ford Figo Bharat Yatra helped celebrate the phenomenal success of the Figo, growing exports to 27 international markets, and industry-wide recognition as a value-for-money vehicle.
