Encouraged by the strong demand for its hatchback Figo, Ford India plans to export the car to 18 more countries this year. With the new destinations the Figo will be exported to 50 countries in all.
“Currently, we are exporting [Figo] to 32 countries. We are hoping to increase that to 50 markets,” Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham said.
Ford India produces Figo, medium sedan Fiesta Classic, premium sedan Fiesta and SUV Endeavour from the Chennai plant. The company is setting up a second plant in Gujarat which would begin production in 2014.
