Fiat India will launch the Absolute Editions of the Linea and Punto on the 19th of September. The limited editions are coming at a time where Fiat has been actually selling at very limited numbers. The combined numbers are below thousand.
Fiat’s diesel engine is powering a number of Tata & Maruti cars, which are selling like hotcakes, but have failed to attract the similar reaction for Fiat cars.
Fiat has parted its way with Tata Motors for distribution and has launched its independent network. Recently the company also inaugurated its first independent service centre in Pune. In the next 2 years the company will open more dealerships and service centre taking the total number to 100 by end of 2013.
The Absolute edition cars will have the following features
Limited “Absolute Edition” Offer = 50% Free Insurance & Roadside Cover + following Add-ons for Punto 2012:
1. Satellite Navigation
2. Contoured Splash Guard (Mud Flaps)
3. Carpets
4. Door Sills
5. Absolute themed Seat Covers
In addition to the above, Fiat will also offer 50% free insurance & roadside cover. The offer is limited till stocks lasts and will be available on all trim levels i.e. Active, Dynamic and Emotion
The biggest problem Fiat is suffering is the small portfolio on offering. With just two cars it does not make a viable business case to open independent dealerships. The Italian company badly needs a car under the Punto, a compact SUV and a compact sedan if the company is serious about the Indian market.
