Fiat India is not keeping mum in the Linea segment but is charting its new strategy to take on the rivals. Fiat is currently testing the 1.6 multijet and an automatic Dualogic gearbox version of the Linea sedan.
This is some good news as the company has not able to sell the Linea in very big numbers as compared to its competitors.
The Fiat Linea, is one of the most beautiful sedans currently in India and is selling under 800 units.
The VW Vento is currently the segment leading and has overtaken the best seller Honda City in this segment, which has dominated the segment since its launch in India.
Well with the Linea 1.6 Multijet Fiat could also see numbers rise as most petrol heads felt the car lacked power. Fiat may launch the 1.6 Multijet by May while the Automatic version will come later.
The company has also announced to set up its own distribution network and will continue selling through Tata dealers. With new products and a more dedicated dealer network Fiat could see higher numbers in India.
