Chevrolet pulled the wraps off of a new sport utility vehicle, the TrailBlazer in Dubai at the motor show. The new SUV based on a completely new Collarado platform is going to be a global SUV.
The TrailBlazer will go on sale in early 2012 in Thailand and is a body-on-frame. It will feature a 2.8-litre Duramax turbodiesel engine, with all-wheel drive and seven seats. Chevrolet have worked quite heavily in terms of styling and also the interior design which looks more like a car as opposed to the rugged looks found on some of the SUV’s built on the pick-up platforms.
The TrailBlazer will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sports and Ford Endeavour. Certainly this segment is witnessing more and more new models and Indian car makers too are trying to catch up with foreign players by tying up with the Chinese manufactures.
According to Chevrolet, the TrailBlazer has been designed as a 7 seater and can accommodate 7 people more comfortably then the SUV’s currently available in this segment.
If launched in India, the TrailBlazer will be a CKD with assembling done at the Halol plant which will also start making the MPV and the new facelifted Captiva.
