Chevrolet will launch the new facelifted Spark in the Indian market on the 15th of October. We had earlier reported of the launch to happen in November, but seems like Chevrolet wants to launch the new Spark before Dusherra festive season. Another reason could also be the launch of Maruti’s new Alto which is expected to be a game changer for the company.
The most noticeable change to the Spark is the honeycomb grille and is in line with the design theme of other Chevrolet cars. The car will look very similar to the Spark electric concept shown at the 2010 Auto Expo.
The bow-tie Chevrolet logo will sit in between the grille as opposed to the top of the grille at present. The higher variants will also get chrome surrounds to the grille and the air dam. The other changes to the front which are apparent are the new curvier front headlamp, reworked air dam, modified fog lamp slots and altered bumper to accommodate all these changes.
The car will continue to get beige interiors and will also get new centre console with a updated audio system.
Chevrolet is also planning to launch an 800cc version of the car. A diesel variant will be ideal, and the company should launch CNG & LPG opitions. Chevrolet India has not been able to attract customers due to ageing product line-up and may a product under the Spark is must. Maruti will launch the new Alto 800 in the Indian market on the 16th of October.
Competition is only going to increase with more companies launching value for money products in the same segment.
The car will be powered by the same 1 litre SMARTECH engine which develops 63 Ps power and 90 nm of Torque.
