Chevrolet will launch the Sail U-Va hatch on the 2nd of November as opposed to 25th October as reported earlier. Chevrolet have taken the launch dates further as the company did not want excitement to fade off as many car makers using the festive season to launch the new models and variants.
The Sail U-VA will be the first model in India to come out of the GM-SAIC joint venture followed by Enjoy MPV by end of December. The Sail sedan will be launched in 2013 after studying the demand of Sail U-VA.
The Sail U-VA boasts spacious interiors and will come with a 1.2 petrol engine, which also shares its block with the Beat but will get a higher tune in the range of 86 Ps. The 1.3 diesel engine will generate 77 Ps power. Both the petrol & diesel engines will be mated to a 5 speed gear box. The hatch will be available in 4 variants they are PS, LS, LT and LT (O). The top end variant will have alloy wheels, ABS and airbags.
Pricing could start at Rs. 4.25 lakhs for the base petrol. The Sail has been extensively modified to meet the India conditions and will compete with the Maruti Swift, Nissan Micra, Renault Pulse, Hyundai i20 and VW Polo.
