General Motors India has sold 7364 vehicles in the month of June 2012. The Beat diesel certainly has helped the American car maker post high sales.
Chevrolet launched the upgraded Cruze and the facelifted Captiva recently. The company also plans to launch the Sail twin in the next two months. The Sail twins will replace the Aveo sedan and Aveo U-VA, but the U-VA name plate will continue on the Sail hatchback.
The June sales include 5236 units of Beat, 741 units of Tavera, 614 units of Spark, 557 units of Cruze and 181 units of Aveo.
Chevrolet will discontinue the Aveo twins and the Optra sedan too will also be phased out.
Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India, said, “Although Chevrolet Beat recorded highest monthly sales, overall market continues to remain sluggish. In our case, substantial orders of Chevrolet Tavera are pending due to supply constraints on account of workers strike at vendor’s end. With market sentiments continuing to remain depressed, we are not expecting the market to show any remarkable improvement before the festival season.”
