Many cars will face BSIV axe which could make car makers to stop selling then in the respective cities.
The Bharat Stage IV (BSIV) norms will go into effect from April 1, 2010. Among the cities upgrading to BS IV are Mumbai, Delhi , Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Kanpur, Ahmedabad, Surat and Agra & NCR Region.
(BSIV) axe will hit Maruti 800, Skoda Octavia, Skoda Fabia petrol and Chevrolet Tavera and these cars will not be sold in 13 cities across India.
After Maruti announced that it will not upgrade its entry level 800 model to meet BS IV norms, Skoda too has decided against upgrading the Skoda Octavia saloon and Skoda Fabia petrol to meet the new emission norms.However, the Skoda Fabia diesel engine will get an upgrade to BS IV and will remain on sale across the country.
As of today, these are the four cars that will no longer be available for sale in 13 cities across India from April 1 but will continue to remain in showrooms for the rest of the country.
