Buying your dream sedan, saloon or SUV today is a huge struggle. With all the rise in prices ‘roti’ ‘kapda’ and ‘makan’, it seems next to doomsday for you to put money in buying an “expensive” car. Hence the hatches seem to fit the pocket and tick almost all boxes of the consumer’s wish list today.
However, sales of hatches are a result of their attractive prices which have been now decreased further. Maruti the lead in sales for hatches in our economy has launched the new Swift with a staggering 140 changes and starts at Rs. 4.22 lakh just 13,000 more than the previous edition.. to this move, Honda responded by re-launching the Jazz and cost cutting was done of a whopping Rs. 1.62 lakh rupees..!
Honda Brio is the next hatch which is going start with some aggressive pricing which could help the car maker increase its market share.
Now that’s effect of competition.. Toyota has launched the hatch version of Etios, the ‘LIVA’ which starts at an extremely attractive price of 3.99 lakh. The game is going to change further with Toyota launching the diesel avatar of the Liva. Skoda is offering some price discounts on the Fabia while the Polo comes with attractive finance schemes.
Hatches are definitely fun to drive and certainly fuel efficient and a boon to city commuters! Maybe it’s time to manufacture luxury hatches, whats say MERC, BMW and AUDI?
