For those who don’t know much about “Cafe Bullet Goa”, it is a family by the Enfield lovers for the Enfield lovers. Formed out of the interests of the likeminded riders who love to ride on their Bullets has its share of usual and unusual story. Initiated by Sunil Dharwadkar the club has been riding since 2008 but first rode as “Cafe Bullet Goa” when it conquered the “Om Beach”.
Most remarkable of all the rides the club has done so for was to Leh in July this year. Get Lehed at the highest motorable road on the planet is what all the riders desire, and doing it on a Bullet commands a lot more respect then otherwise. With great riding skills and a lot of stuff to share with, Faisal, Arun, Prajot, Prasad, Pankaj are a few members to name from the group to made it to the Himalayas.
As planned the ride kicked off from Mapusa at 5:00 am. Goa On Wheels joined the crew at Navelim. (A special thanks to Sanath Keni for taking care of all the needful things to get us going). We left from Navelim church at 6:30 am to head further and have a tee break at Karmal Ghat. After a quick break we then headed for the next stop at Honavar via Karwar, Ankola, Kumta and Haldipur, which was a long stopples ride.
After some more sharing and caring and some refuelling we then started towards the target location. Diverting left from Honnavar on NH 17 to join on the NH 206 is another fascinating ride. The road conditions aren’t as promising as one would expect it to be towards a tourist destination. But we weren’t tourist as we intended to conquer the Jog on the Thumpers. Though the surface isn’t as what u can match the race tracks with (and by no means), but the pure fascination about the twisted, rain damaged and spine knocking ride is an extra dose of steroids which doesn’t let you bother much.
Taking another quick rest at a point which overlooks the dam reservoir, we then reached the destination. The jag falls is a well known tourist location located in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. Formed by Sharavati River and standing at a height of 253m, Jog falls is the second highest Plunge waterfall after Nohkalikai falls in Meghalaya.
After a Chicken thali lunch at a local restaurant, we then at about 3:15pm headed back to Goa. Taking a few stops in between for bit of relaxation and again a bit of refuelling, we finally wound up the ride a great never to forget experience.
(Due to unavoidable weather conditions we couldn’t manage to take great photographs, please excuse us for the same)
