German car maker BMW which topped the luxury car market for last two years is planning to increase its capacity at the Chennai plant. BMW will launch new models like the new 6 Series convertible and the X3 SUV in india soon.
BMW has increased capacity at its Chennai manufacturing facility to 10,000 vehicles per annum from 6,000 vehicles as it looks to strengthen its number one position in the luxury car segment. The company may also look at introducing a second shift by 2015 to meet the demand.
BMW which introduced the new X1 in December will launch the new X3 in June and will assembling the X3 model in the country by middle of the year.
