BMW Motarrad the two-wheeler division of BMW is planning to launch more affordable bikes in the Indian market. BMW Motorrad started operations in India in 2011 by launching only select models.
BMW is now readying the F650 GS which belongs to the adventure family. The F650 GS is no new to the Indian market. Back in the 1990 BMW had tied up with Hero and launched this particular model (old gen). However the market was not ready for the high end bikes and it failed to gather attention.
However now with booming economy and higher purchasing power BMW plans to target the lower segment with more affordable bikes.
The F 650 GS will be powered by a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, 798cc parallel twin motor that is shared with the 71bhp. The same motor also does the duty on the F800 GS.
The F650 GS will go on sale from May and is expected to be priced between 8-10.5 lakhs on road.
