Bajaj plans to launch their off-road bike KTM Duke 125cc by December in India as well as in Brazil market. With the new Duke 125 Bajaj will make the maiden entry in Brazil where 20 lakh bikes are sold annually.
Bajaj may also consider the launch of Pulsar and Discover depending upon the response to the Duke brand.
Currently, Duke is manufactured exclusively for the export market at Bajaj’s Chakan plant.Duke is 90 per cent localized and the company have exported 1,700-1,800 Duke bikes so far to Austria and some European countries. The set target of supplying the bikes to KTM during the FY12 is 11,000.
The KTM duke 125 will come at a premium and will be slotted between the Bajaj Pulsar and Kawasaki Ninja 250.
Update- KTM will not launch the Duke 125 in India anytime soon. The company has launched the Duke 200, Due 390 and RC series. KTM also plans to launch more products in the Indian market.
