Bajaj Auto Indonesia (BAI) has officially launched the new Pulsar 220 in Indonesia.
Priced at Rp 18.6 million (Rs. 95,600) on the road Jakarta, the Pulsar 220 is positioned at the highest hierarchy among Bajaj’s products in Indonesia, targeted at middle to upper segment, complementing the existing models such as Pulsar 135 XCD, 180 and 200. This sport bike will compete with rivals such as Honda Tiger and Yamaha Scorpio.
Pulsar 220 is equipped with the 220cc engine with Digital Twin Spark ignition (DTSI) technology with power output of 21 PS @ 8500 rpm and torque of 19.12 Nm @ 7000 rpm. It can reach the maximum speed of 144 km/h. There are five colour choices, namely black, blue, red, silver, and orange.
Pulsar 220 will be assembled at the BAI factory in Cikarang, West Java, starting this year. Looking at price offered, Pulsar 220 is a more competitive choice compared to the two rivals. As of March 2011, Honda Tiger is priced at Rp 24.9 million and Yamaha Scorpio at Rp 23.75 million.
