Bajaj Auto is jointly developing with Austria’s KTM, plans to launch a model in 2011.
“The product…will first be launched in Europe and then in India, sometime during the next financial year,” S. Sridhar, chief executive officer of Bajaj Auto’s two-wheeler unit said”.
The bike will be made at the company’s plant in Pune, and will be marketed under the KTM brand and would be priced at more than Rs. 100,000.
As of now there is no much info as which bikes will be sold and what engine capacity. KTM has big range of bikes form 125cc to 1000cc.
Bajaj and KTM are also working on an even higher engine range of around 250cc. These could be launched after three years. Bajaj hopes to sell 1,00,000-2,00,000 units of the smaller engine bikes in India and other parts of Asia.
Bajaj holds 35.67 per cent in KTM Power Sports AG.
