German auto major Volkswagen unveiled the latest version of the iconic Beetle and the new Touareg SUV at the Auto Expo here.
The New Beetle is powered by a range of TSI engines. A technological highlight in efficiency is the 1.2 TSI with 105 PS. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine follows the downsizing philosophy of the globally successful 1.4 TSI, 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI engines. And this means: maximum power with minimum fuel consumption without losing out on the performance.
This Beetle showcased here at the Auto Expo is equipped with a 7 speed DSG gearbox which means further reduction in fuel consumption.
The Beetle will make its official debut in the Indian market very soon.
The 2012 Touareg gets a 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine with 245PS on tap and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen claims that the new Touareg will move from 0-100 kmph in 7.6 seconds. The new Touareg comes standard with all wheel drive and in the sport mode it tunes ESP for off road duty, activates hill descent assist and adjusts shift points for the automatic gearbox allowing the driver to experience off road at its best. The Touareg is now 41mm longer, 12mm wider and has 20-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lamps with xenon headlamps and a panoramic sunroof.
The Touareg will see a market launch by March 2012.
