Skoda pulled the wraps of the much awaited Fabia Scout on the further increasing the Fabia range on the 24th of April. Skoda had earlier showcased the Scout variant of the Fabia at the 2012 Auto expo and back then it had generated a lot of interest from the public.
The car was being projected as an urban vehicle which could take well to the bad roads if not do some amount of off-Roading.
The Skoda Fabia Scout is 33mm longer than the Fabia and 16 mm wider. The extra length makes the Scout expensive as it does not qualify for the small car bracket. The basic underpinning of the car remains the same and so do the power trains and other dimensions. So how good is the car?? Is the higher sticker price justified?? And should you buy one?? Now that the car is launched our Goa team took the car for a spin and here are our views.
EXTERIOR & STYLING
The Major difference between the Scout and the Fabia is its looks. The styling of the Scout is eye catching and very attractive. Visually the scout looks much nicer than the understated Fabia.
The projector headlamps with the round fog lamps give the car a distinct look. The dark colour cladding contrasts well with silver and beige, the only two colours that the car is available in. The front bumper is equipped with a silver coloured spoiler along with the beautifully finished Air dams which adds character to the car.
The side profile largely remains same as the Fabia hatch expect the cladding which distinguishes the two cars. The cladding looks nice and the tall body design of the car is well masked which makes the car look sporty and slightly longer.
In addition to the cladding the scout comes with attractive looking 8 spoke alloy wheels and pronounced wheel arches.
The rear bumper gets a diffuser and like the front, lower part of the cladding is finished in silver too. Other changes are the Scout badging on the boot and the roof rails.
