We were the first to report about Toyota planning to launch the Fortuner TRD Sportlivo edition for the Indian market. A friend of ours has just mailed some pics of the SUV, the launch of which is just around the corner.
The Fortuner has been a great success in the luxury SUV segment with sales of 1000 plus units per month and commands a 2 months waiting period.
The Fortuner will get the TRD Sportivo Aero package which includes a sporty spoiler at the front & rear and a roof spoiler with embossed TRD badges. Unlike the Thai market the Fortuner TRD Sportlivo in India will be more of a cosmetic job and will no mechanical changes. On the interior the Fortuner will get the same features are currently available and remains largely same.
The Fortuner SUV is currently available in three variants: 4×2 manual, 4×2 Automatic and 4x4manual. The SUV is powered by a D-4D turbodiesel engine which produces max power of 171 PS @ 3600 rpm and Max torque output of 343 Nm @ 1400-3400 rpm.
Toyota has also launched the limited edition Liva TRD Sportlivo, Etios TRD Sportlivo and the Corolla Altis limited edition.
Toyota has also upgraded the D4D engine in the Thai market. The engine now has a higher torque output of 360Nm but power output remains same.
