Audi used the Beijing Motor Show as the platform to showcase the Q5 update. The Q5 with number of aesthetic modifications will be launched by mid 2012 globally (India may receive the facelift either by end 2012 or early 2013).
The 2013 model bundles some minor styling tweaks on the outside and new interior appointments with changes to the chassis and engine lineup.
Visually, the 2013 Q5 sports Audi’s new six-point front grille with chrome inserts accompanied by revised headlamp fixtures with LEDs and a slightly redesigned front bumper with new fog lamps. At the back we find tweaked tail lamp graphics and a modified rear apron.
The changes on the inside are even more discrete and concern the more premium trim and the new steering wheel designs.
The Audi Q5 facelift is expected to come with a slightly recalibrated chassis, a new suspension and the new 3.0 litre TFSI engine, which will join the current engine lineup.
The Audi Q5 competes with the likes of BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLK Class and the latest to join the parade is the Range Rover Evoque, a slightly more priced competitor. Audi has been revising and launching new models at a faster rate to keep itself ahead of the competition which is getting fiercer with new players joining the band.
