Audi will launch the all new Q2 SUV in India by June. Audi’s new Q3 mini SUV has been spotting endless times in the last couple of months. Audi will initially offer a fully loaded, all-wheel drive version powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre, 177bhp diesel. The petrol variant will follow later in September with a 2.0 litre direct-injection. Expect the diesel Q3 to be priced at around Rs 23-26 lakh which will a direct competition to BMW X1 which has been ruling this luxury SAV segment.
The mini SUV has been doing rounds of Mumbai for a couple of months now and was showcased at the Auto Expo in January. The Q3 shares its platform with the Volkswagen Tiguan and will be available in both two-wheel and four wheel drive variant. The Audi will use the same 2 litre diesel motor which currently power’s the A4/Jetta/Passat/Superb and will be mated to a 6-Speed Automatic transmission system.
The Audi model range in India includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi RS5 Coupé, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder available across the country.
The Q3 will help Audi expand its reach and model range. By the end of 2012, Audi plans to have dealers at 23 locations from the present 15 locations. Audi India had earlier announced its aim to become the market leader in Indian luxury car segment by 2015 by surpassing its compatriots BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
