Audi is planning to expand the Q line-up and may consider the Q1. The German car maker may use the A1 to underpin the new small SUV which will go under the Q3, the smallest in the offering currently.
With Ford and more players entering the compact SUV space, it also makes sense for luxury car makers also to consider a product in the similar category.
Seems like the auto makers are moving to downsizing so as to cater a larger target audiences.
Nissan launched the Juke which is selling successfully and Ford will get the EcoSport based on the new Fiesta platform. Audi will initially look if the segment has potential and then only will take a final call.
Audi will certainly have to get the product right in terms of pricing and positioning to make it a success.
The Audi Q3 will hit the Indian shores by March and will be equipped with a 2.0 TDi diesel and 1.8 TSFi petrol engine. The Q3 will be pitted against the BMW X1. It will also face some competition from Toyota Fortuner and Chevrolet Captiva.
