Audi’s new Q3 mini SUV has been spotted tested again in Mumbai by our team member Abhinav. The Q3 was caught completely undisguised along with the facelifted Audi A4.
The mini SUV has been doing rounds of Mumbai for a couple of months now and was showcased at the Auto Expo in January. We called up the dealer to understand if the launch was nearing and they said that only the new A4 is expected in a couple of months while the Q3 will be launched in the second half of this year.
The Q3 shares its platform with the Volkswagen Tiguan and will be available in both two-wheel and four wheel drive variant. The Audi will use the same 2 litre diesel motor which currently power’s the A4/Jetta/Passat/Superb and will be mated to a 6-Speed Automatic transmission system.
We can expect some aggressive pricing by the German car maker to take on the BMW X1 head and also make some stress for the SUV’s under Rs. 25 lakhs.
The Audi model range in India includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi RS5 Coupé, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder available across the country.
By the end of 2012, Audi plans to have dealers at 23 locations from the present 15 locations. Audi India had earlier announced its aim to become the market leader in Indian luxury car segment by 2015 by surpassing its compatriots BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
