Audi India has confirmed the launch of the new baby SUV Q3 in India in 2012. The Q3 will come in petrol and diesel engine options and may also get all wheel drive as an option.
The Q3 is a very important product for Audi as it will be the entry SUV and also give more volumes to the automaker. The Q3 will be assembled in India mostly at the Aurangabad plant and we expect a higher level of localisation. The baby SUV will be pitted directly against the BMW X1.
We expect the 2.0-litre TFSI petrol and a 2.0 TDi to be strapped on the Q3. Audi hopes to sell 5,000 cars in India in 2011 and 30,000 units by 2020.
