Audi announced an increase in prices of select models in India. The announcement comes soon after Mercedes-Benz increased the prices of its entire range.
Audi has increased prices of the Q range SUVs by 2.5 percent and the sporty performance range –R8 and RS5 by upto to 15 percent. The increase in price is effective from March 16, 2013.
The hike in prices is mainly due to upward revision in Customs Duty and Excise Duty. The SUV range and models which are fully imported have been affected. Audi has not announced price change on the A7 and A8 and we can expect the official announcement soon.
Audi has been growing at a faster rate than its counter parts in the Indian market. The company sold 775 units in February this year an increase by 29% compared to last year. Audi also added new dealerships and plan to open 40 by end of 2013.
Recent launches include the Q5 facelift, Q3 petrol and facelifted R8 sports car. The luxury car maker will also launch the facelifted RS5 and a sportier S6 sedan based on the A6.
