Audi’s latest-generation A3 sedan will be offered in the U.S. by end of this year. Audi’s latest-generation A3 has already been revealed in three-door hatchback form and is just starting sales in Europe, though this particular variant is unlikely to be offered in the U.S.
Audi released three photos of the new A3 sedan on its Facebook page, briefly noting: “The sedan is confirmed for U.S. release late this year.”
The US will most likely get the sedan body style much like the Indian market. Audi has bold ambitions for its latest A3, particular in its sedan form, which the company sees as the spiritual successor to the smaller A4 sedan.
The A3 platform will also spawn other variants which include a five-door ‘Sportback’ model and a convertible. The first images of the new A3 sedan were released ahead of the car’s public debut, expected in September at the Paris auto show.
The Audi A3 sedan based on the MQB platform will be the Volkswagen group owned German luxury car maker’s least priced model in India. When launched in the Indian market the A3 could be locally assembled with a much higher local content which will help the German car maker to keep costs low.
The A3 sedan could be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines mated to a 7 speed DSG gear box. Audi has recently launched the Q3 in India and is getting very aggressive as they plan to claim the top spot by 2015.
