Mahindra may launch a 4×4 variant of the Xylo MUV in India. Thanks to our friends at IndianAutosBlog who have posted the images of the Mahindra Xylo 4×4 being tested in India.
Mahindra is trying all possibilities to utilise the Xylo platform completely. Mahindra first launched the Xylo passenger variant, which was followed by Genio single cab, than the double variant was launched. The Genio got different face with Logan headlamps and a basic design grille.
For the export market Mahindra showcased more luxurious versions of the Xylo pick-ups. Mahindra has been extensively testing the Mini Xylo which was slated for 2011 launch. But due to some technical glitches the company could not launch in 2011. We expect the Mini Xylo to be launched in 2012.
Now test mules of the Xylo 4×4 being tested and we feel this could be a good move by Mahindra to expand the range. Mahindra may plug in the part time 4wd system an advanced version of the Borg & Warner system found on select Scorpio models in the Xylo 4×4.
If Mahindra does launch the Xylo 4×4, it will be India’s first MPV with all wheel drive. We feel this could make it mostly in the Export market as in India one would prefer a Scorpio or a Bolero over the Xylo.
If it does make it to India, expect the prices to be around the 8-9 lakh mark for the base variants.
