The New generation BMW X1 got its first public unveil at the 2016 Auto Expo in February 2016, and recently the vehicle was displayed for a special preview at the BMW Goa dealership ahead of its national launch next month.
Built on an all new UKL 1 Platform, the all new BMW X1 has grown up and now looks like a proper SUV rather than the station wagon like stance of the outgoing car.
The New BMW X1 flaunts a more upright nose with a longer and more upright bonnet and a masculine bumper with larger air dams and higher placed fog lamps, a larger kidney grille finished off in silver and full LED headlights.
The side profile too looks taller and more masculine with the flared wheel arches and there’s a waistline which starts at the front wheel arch and flows upwards into the taillights. The rear of the all new X1 also looks more grown up with a higher stance and redesigned tailgate while the bumper has a black plastic and houses the chromed ringed twin exhausts pipes and redesigned taillamps.
The interiors of the New X1 have been received an overhaul too. The dash is set low and has an all black treatment with glossy wood finish in the middle. The M Sport version of the X1 gets an 8.8 inch touchscreen, while the standard X1 gets a 6.5 inch touchscreen. The BMW Connected Drive features BMW iDrive (the onboard Driver Information system) with 16.5 cms display, BMW Apps, Park Distance Control (PDC), Connectivity through Bluetooth and USB/AUX IN connectivity. M Sport comes with a 22.3 cms display along with a Head-Up Display and BMW Navigation Plus. The Joystick like gear stick of the rear wheel drive X1 has been replaced with a new a proper gearshift.
The Twin Power Turbo 1,995 cc four- cylinder diesel engine delivers excellent power output and responsiveness even at low RPMs. The turbocharger technology with variable turbine geometry and common rail direct fuel injection system ensures both fuel efficiency and low emissions that yields an exceptional power output of 140 kW / 190 hp. between the two axles for optimum grip and safety.
BMW has equipped the new X1 with a host of safety features such as six air bags, Anti-Lock Braking System with brake assist, Dynamic Stability Control including Dynamic Traction Control, Cornering Brake Control, Hill Descent Control , Side-impact Protection, Run flat tyres with reinforced sidewalls, integrated emergency spare wheel, electronic vehicle immobiliser and crash sensor.
Colour options on the all new BMW X1 is include Alpine White (non-metallic) Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Mineral White, Mineral Grey, Sparkling Brown, Sparkling Storm Brilliant Effect, Platinum Silver, Atlantic Grey, Mediterranean Blue and Chestnut Bronze. The exclusive metallic paintwork for the M Sport range includes Escorial Blue (non metallic).
