Bajaj Auto India, India’s second largest two-wheeler maker is developing an all-new platform that will churn out the next generation Pulsars and Discovers. The new bikes will hit the market by the second half of this fiscal.
The company which is dominant in the sports category will further strengthen its position with launch of the all new bikes. The company also plans to replace some existing models and discontinue after the launch of the all new bikes based on the new platforms.
Bajaj is also working on re-launching the Boxer, targeted at the rural markets. The bike will be launched in the second quarter of this fiscal according to Mr. S Sridhar, president, motorcycle business at Bajaj Auto.
“Boxer will become a subset of the commuter bike Discover, sort of an entry level bike to the commuter segment. However, Boxer will not be a 100cc bike and its will be around that of Hero Honda Splendor”.
The company plans to cash on the growing rural economy which accounts for 35% of the bike business in the country, where the market leader Hero Honda is a very dominant.
We expect the Boxer to be more stylish than its competitors and will come with a good fuel efficiency.
