Volkswagen will launch new Tiguan on 24th May.
The new Tiguan is based on the MQB platform which is shared with SKODA Octavia sedan and Superb sedan.
The new SUV will be available in two trims – Comfortline and Highline and VW may offer the Trendline trim in future.
The Comfortline trim features LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and heated front seats with memory function, power adjustment with lumbar support for the driver’s seat, Cruise control and three-zone climate control with rear controls.
The Highline trim level will feature larger 18-inch alloy wheels, gets a panoramic sunroof (first SUV in its segment), ambient lighting, Easy-Open gesture controlled tailgate, reverse parking camera and keyless entry with push-button start.
In terms of safety the SUV comes with 5 star Euro NCAP rating. In India we can expect 8 airbags, ABS, EBD, Electronic stability control and Traction control.
The India-spec Tiguan will be powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine which develops 147 BHP and mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The SUV will be offered with 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.

The VW Tiguan is expected to compete against the Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and the upcoming Jeep Compass.
