What’s a convertible..? Taking the roof off, the wind in your hair, a stretch of winding highways to get away from your routine office work, till now all of this would come at a high sticker price… Well Audi’s just launched the First compact luxury convertible A3 Cabriolet in Goa.
For starters the A3 Convertible looks very similar to A3 Sedan with a few cosmetic changes . The USP is the roof which folds into the boot with a touch of a button, and that’s what makes most of the people on the road take a second glance at your car. The diamond-design Audi Singleframe grille, in high-gloss anthracite with frame in matt aluminium adds to the distinctive stance of the car.
The aggressive looking S line package is standard on the Audi A3 Cabriolet. The bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights give the face of the car a resolute look.
The Audi A3 Cabriolet is available with a lightweight soft-top. The high quality fabric hood in a “K Design”, controlled through a central button opens and closes in less than 18 seconds, up to a speed of 50 kmph. An active rollover protection system protects the occupants in the case of a rollover.
The Audi A3 Cabriolet offers 14 exterior color options. Alternatively, customers also have the choice of an infinite number of exterior colors from Audi Exclusive.
The dashboard is the same high quality dash as the sedan. Though space is decent the rear seats are tiny & you have very little legroom at the rear due to the two door layout, which means you do have to clamber into them. The boot space is 320 litres which is 100 litres down compared to the A3 Sedan.
Powering the Cabriolet is a 1.8 litre TFSI motor which churns out 132Kw (180 hp) @ 5100 – 6200 rpm which powers the front wheels through the 7 Speed S – Tronic dual-clutch transmission & and one can even use the Paddle shifters rather than using the gearlever . The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 242 km/h.
The Cabriolet also packs in Audi’s Drive Select modes – Efficiency, Comfort, Auto, Dynamic & Individual, You can select your drive depending on your mood.
Priced at Rs. 49.93 Lakhs for the base model & Rs 53.85 Lakhs for the top [ On Road Goa] you do have to shell out a premium over the regular A3 sedan but then not many options are available in the market & the A3 Cabriolet is in a segment of its own.
