Honda is getting ready to challenge the most trusted motorcycle brand in India, Hero Splendor.Honda will launch another motorcycle in the mass-market 100-110cc segment. According to sources the new bike is code named ‘K23’, and will be built on the same platform as Dream Yuga.
The new product will feature high fuel efficiency as its main USP besides a reliable Honda engine and basic features such as electric start and alloy wheels as optional. The Dream Yuga is priced higher than the Splendor, starting at Rs. 46,150 for the base model.
The new motorcycle will be target to customer who wants a basic bike for commuting and fuel efficiency is off high importance.
Honda is planning to sell 6 lakh units of the new 100cc motorcycle. The Splendor family sells 2.1-2.2 million units annually which includes Splendor+, Splendor Pro, Splendor NXG and Super Splendor.
Honda is targeting to sell 1.2 million (12 lakhs) of the Dream Series motorcycles which will be 30% of companies overall sales for 2014. Honda is racing very fast and has already claimed the second spot.
Honda launched a new model the CB-Trigger to strengthen its position in the 150cc segment.
