A few week backs we reported about Hyundai launching the all new Santa Fe in Indian market which will happen during the second half of 2013. The third generation Santa Fe SUV was caught testing in Chennai. The test mules are heavily camouflaged but that does not make us fail to understand the Santa Fe hiding under it.
The SUV designed on the new ‘Storm Edge’ design philosophy a refined version of older ‘Fluidic’ design is bigger in all aspects than the outgoing model. The new Santa Fe is 30mm longer, 5mm wider and 45mm lower than the current generation model.
Hyundai will unveil the Grand Santa Fe (seven seater version) at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. We are certain the longer wheelbase will make it to the Indian shores. Hyundai may even consider the five seater option which could compete with the likes of the Honda CR-V, Nissan X-trail and Renault Koleos.
But the seven seater will be the flagship model which will lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Chevrolet Captiva.
The 2013 Santa Fe will be assembled at the Chennai plant and will be available with a 2.2 litre diesel engine with either a six speed manual or 6 speed Auto box. The SUV will be offered in 2WD and 4WD drive options.
