Honda will launch the Amaze sedan in the Indian market in the 1st week of April. The sedan which is based on the Brio hatch platform will be available in both petrol & diesel engine options from day 1.
The diesel engine belongs to Honda’s new generation engine series: Earth Dreams Technology which offers a combination of power & fuel efficiency.
Honda will price the Amaze aggressively and will directly compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Chevrolet Sail and Toyota Etios. The company will have a high local content upto 80% including the engine being manufactured in India. Prices of the Amaze could start at Rs. 4.75 for the petrol and Rs. 5.85 for the diesel.
Honda is hoping to clock a 30% growth in sales with the launch of the Amaze sedan. So far the company has been banking on the Brio & City for volumes. The scene is going to change with Honda moving its focus from being just a premium car manufacture to premium manufacture which appeals to the masses.
Honda is also scaling its dealership network and recently opened new dealerships at Gangtok, Asansol, Dibrugarh & Tirupati.
Honda recently launched the CR-V SUV which comes at a starting price of Rs. 19.95 lakhs and for the first time is assembled in the Indian market.
