Tata Motors has been testing a number of Indica variant’s in the recent times. One of the most spotted variant is the Indica XL based on the extended platform which also underpins the Indigo XL.
Overdrive has tweeted a completely undisguised image of the Indica XL. From the pic the hatch continues to be a five seater, with enormous legroom for the rear passenger. There were reports earlier of Indica XL to be a seven seater, and it seemed a not so good idea, as it would only compromise on the seating space.
One important question in our mind is, is the Indica XL under four metres? If not should really Tata bother launching this car in India ,as it will not qualify for 12% excise duty, only taking the price tag higher by 10% than competition cars.
We are sure Tata definitely has some plans in its mind, for this model, if the company is serious about launching the same for the Indian market.
The Indica XL will find a good number of buyers, if not personnel then definitely the cabbies.
Under the hood will be the tested and fuel efficient CR4 diesel engine which returns a mileage of 25 kmpl. A CNG and LPG variant could also be added along with the 1.2 petrol engine option.
How about the Indica XL with a 90hp Multijet?
