Honda’s Brio sedan spur up the Indian auto fanatics as the Thai market is as relevant to ours. At a media briefing in Thailand, Honda said the saloon will have a 3,990mm overall length and 2,407mm wheelbase, longer than the hatchback by 380mm and 62mm accordingly. Owing to that the rear cabin is more spacious with identical width and height as the hatchback.
The suspension has new bits added up like coil springs to ensure much road stability with the transformation sewing up an extra 26 kilos of weight to the sedan and the boot can capacitate 420 litres of space. The power of 90hp will come from a 1.2-litre engine that sets an average economic figure of 20.4kpl mated to a CVT auto gearbox.
Set to step foot in Thailand this month, the compact Brio sedan will bet against the likes of Tata Indigo eCS, Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the upcoming Mahindra bound Verito in India. Honda also may slate in a rival for Maruti Suzuki Ertiga soon as a new MPV is being confirmed for Thailand.
The key focus can really be seen through everywhere with the interiors almost replicate the hatchback to cut the costs down but the colour range will distinct the sub-four sedan from the little car. We can expect the same 1.2-litre four-pot diesel unit to bustle out 75 horses here.
The launch time for Brio sedan is likely to be in April next year and it will also be offered with the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. In a recent event, Honda announced its desire to run a 1.5-litre diesel unit which will apparently power the next gen City and Jazz models along with the Brio sedan.
Honda is striving to reinvigorate itself in India as diesel plants would prove to be a hit statement in current scenario. The expanded Brio will certainly keep the ambitions running for the Japanese car maker.
