Tata Motors launched the Vista 90 with Fiat’s 1.4 litre 90 hp in October last year. But the extra bhp did not attract buyers as the Vista does not really appeal to customers as a sporty car.
Our friends at Motorbash have caught a new variant of the Vista 90 with a S Power badge in Pune. A couple of days back we reported of the Vista being tested with a 1.4 CR4 Dicor engine. Tata Motors already sells the Vista Saffire 90 which basically comes with Fiat’s 1.4 litre petrol engine which also powers the Manza, Punto and the Linea.
Is Tata planning a new edition of the Vista 90 with a S Power badge on the likes of the Punto Sports? Or can we expect the 1.4 T-Jet engine from the Linea with 114 Ps rpm max power and 207 Nm of torque. Tata may also be testing the Vista for export markets as the Vista is sold in many right hand drive markets like South Africa.
Apart from the S Power badge the car had nothing different. The Indica badge is now stripped off, a move which will help to better differentiate the Vista and Indica. The taxi image of the Indica has hampered the Vista image as many associate the car as a taxi.
Tata Motors had showcased the Vista Concept S2, an advanced version of the Indica Vista Sport showcased at the last Auto Expo, in 2010. With a turbo-charged 1.4L Tata petrol engine, the Indica Vista Concept S2 puts out a phenomenal 140ps @ 6000rpm and a healthy 188Nm of torque at 3500rpm (Beats the Aria in terms of Power to weight Ratio).
So do you think Tata should launch a sporty Vista?
