Despite a sluggish market the Volkswagen brand sold 5,371 vehicles in the month of June 2012, an increase of 18 percent over May 2012. When compared to the same period last year, the Brand registered flat sales at 5,371 units in June 2012 as compared to 5,397 units in June 2011.
The Polo and Vento were the major drivers for the growth in June. Volkswagen also launched the Jetta petrol with 1.4 TSi petrol engine on the 21st of June. The TSI is a pioneering technology of petrol engines by Volkswagen. TSI engines are compact, high powered and use less fuel thereby successfully implementing the downsizing concept. The Volkswagen TSI engines are designed to deliver maximum torque from engine speeds as low as 1500 rpm. That is good for both driving pleasure and fuel economy.
This is achieved by combining Direct Petrol injection and intake of high compress air with the use of turbocharger thereby giving high fuel efficiency.
The Jetta Trendline is priced at Rs. 13.60 lakhs and Comfortline at Rs. 15.07 lakhs. both ex showroom, New Delhi.
