With the launch of Nano car, General Motors India, has decided to launch a ‘Mini Car’ by the end of this year, said Karl Slym, president and managing director of the company.
“This Mini Car’ has nothing to do with the launching of Nano car by Tata, as GM India has brought to the Indian market unmatched international standards and customer care in the automobile sector,” Slym said.
Talking to reporters at the company’s plant at Halol about 45 kms from here, Slym refused to reveal the price or the salient features of the ‘Mini car’. “GMs state of-the-art Halol plant has a capacity to manufacture 85,000 units of Chevrolet brand annually from its Halol and Talegaon plant in Maharashtra,” Slym said.
However, the company was in a position to sell only 65,702 units in the year of 2008 due to prevailing recession in the market, he said. The company has decided to come out with three new products this year which includes CNG, LPG and ‘Mini Car’, Slym added.
