Mercedes-Benz India is going to launch a new S300 variant of the Luxury sedan S-Class. The sedan will get a new engine option which will help the German luxury car maker to price the new S300 at Rs. 77.05 ex-showroom. The S300L model will be equipped with a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine producing a peak power of 228 Bhp and max torque at 300 Nm.
The S-Class is assembled in India at the Chakan plant and will help Mercedes-Benz target a lager customer base with the new cut price version. A slightly modified strategy is being followed by the luxury variants in the entry level like C-Class, where the manufacturers are offering a corporate edition with les features compared to the high end variants.
The S-Class is currently available in 3 engine options: S350, S350CDI and S500. Mercedes also showcased the S600 Pullman at the 2012 Auto Expo which could make its entry in Indian and will eventually replace the Maybach.
Mercedes-Benz India certainly needs lower price models to get back in the top slot. The S300 will be officially launched very soon in India.
