A few weeks back we posted about the Sail sedan being tested in Pune and bought you the spy spics. Another post soon followed with the interior images of the Sail sedan. Once we again the Sail sedan has been caught testing in Pune.
The Sail sedan is built on a new global small passenger car platform with the Chinese partner SIAC. The Sail platform has been designed specifically for the emerging markets like China and India. The front view features Chevrolet’s signature styling cues, including a dual-port grille adorned with a gold bowtie very similar to the Sail hatchback. The interiors get beige treatment which is now the most preferred colour in India as it adds to the premium feel.
The Sail sedan could be powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol engine currently available in the Beat but with a higher tune of 81-85bhp power. The Sail sedan will also get the most renowned Indian diesel engine, Fiat’s 1.3 Multijet which will be launched later. We also feel Chevrolet may launch it with a more powerful 1.4 petrol engine.
The Sail sedan could see a 2012 end launch. Chevrolet may give the Sail sedan a new name or add a Suffix to distinguish it from the Sail hatch back. The Sail sedan will replace the Aveo and may be offered in alternative fuel options in future.
