German luxury car-maker Audi plans to launch its performance S6 sedan and the all new Q3 sports utility vehicle in India in 2012. Audi will showcase the cars the 2012 Auto Expo. Audi is looking to achieve about 40% growth in sales in 2012 and the top spot in the premium luxury segment.
“The study is going on to introduce S6 in the Indian market. We are thinking to launch it during the second quarter of next year,” Audi India Head Michael Perschke said. Besides, the company is also considering to introduce smaller sports utility vehicles (SUV) such as Q3 in the Indian market, he added.”We may launch Q3 in India very soon. It will most probably come in during the second half of 2012,” Perschke said.
The company will also showcase the concept of the electric hybrid version of the A3 at the Expo, he added.
Audi is hoping to sell a total of about 5,400 units for the entire 2012. The company had set a tearget to sell 5000 units and are expecting to end the current year with about 80% sales jump. Audi India has already sold 5100 units this year.
By the end of 2012, Audi plans to have dealers at 23 locations from the present 15 locations. Audi India had earlier announced its aim to become the market leader in Indian luxury car segment by 2015 by surpassing its compatriots BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Audi India will also launch the A4 facelift and new variant of the A8 luxury sedan.
The Audi model range in India includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi RS5 Coupé, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder available across the country: in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West, Pune and Surat. Further developments include Coimbatore, Delhi West, Lucknow and Mumbai South.
