The new facelifted Fortuner and Innova have been spied again. This time with no camouflage and we can expect launch very soon. The new facelifted Innova and Fortuner will be one of the main highlights of the 2012 Auto Expo.
The Innova certainly looks much better than its previous model and gets cosmetic changes on the exterior and interior. There is a large screen placed at the center that serves as the interface for the entertainment system.
Toyota is all set to launch a refreshed Innova in India and as per our sources the launch looks very close, even before the auto expo. The Innova facelift was unveiled at the Indonesian Motor Show this year and has already hit the roads in most countries.
The front fascia gets a slight makeover with new headlamps and a tweaked bumper. At the back you get fresh tail lamps with added reflectors on the rear bumper. The interiors have been updated too, with an added infotainment system and a new steering wheel.
Overall, the facelift is more of a nose job and is essentially a lame excuse to hike the prices. The facelift was supposed to be launched around Diwali in India, but it seems Toyota is trying to clear out the stocks of the current model before the launch.
The Fortuner now gets a fresh face, with Land Cruiser inspired headlamps replacing the current ones. A new chrome frame replaces the current brushed aluminium radiator grille, which is also inherited from the Land Cruiser.
The front bumper has been tweaked a little with a new housing for the fog lamps. At the back, the tail lamps get a new housing with a clear-lens effect. The chrome plate at the back now gets the Fortuner branding and is stretched to connect the tail lamps for added styling. On the inside, everything remains unchanged, except for the blue illumination around the speedometer, which looks really cool by the way. The mechanicals remain mostly untouched too, except the engine which will be tuned for better efficiency and to the current emission norms.
All in all, it’s a very typical Toyota facelift, with just a little tweaks, here and there. Prices are expected to be hiked a little, though we cannot really say by how much. The upgraded Fortuner will hit the showrooms in December and we expect the 4X2 and an automatic variant to be squeezed in around the same time too.
