German car maker Volkswagen will launch the iconic new Beetle in India at 2012 Auto Expo.
Volkswagen launched the all new Beetle at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show in China on all new platform.
The 2012 Beetle will offer three engines: the 2.5L petrol five cylinder, the 2.0L TDI® Clean Diesel and the 2.0L TSI® turbocharged petrol engine. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual or optional 6-speed automatic on 2.5L models.
India will get the 2.0L TDI® Clean Diesel with Volkswagen’s acclaimed DSG® 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. The 2012 Beetle 2.0L TDI Clean Diesel is the most fuel-efficient Beetle ever. The quiet, four cylinder 2.0L TDI Clean Diesel engine produces 140 hp and 236 lb.-ft (347 Nm) of torque.
Some of the new features include:
- Radio-CD and radio-navigation systems
- Panoramic roof
- Keyless Access
- BI-XENONTM headlights and LED daytime running lights
Amidst showcasing carlines that exemplify efficiency and German technology at its best, Volkswagen will showcase the third generation of its most loved carline for decades – the 21st century Beetle.

Volkswagen, Europe’s leading passenger car manufacturer will focus on environment friendly, fuel efficient carlines at the 11th Auto Expo scheduled to be held in New Delhi early January next year.
