Chevrolet launched the Beat at the 2010 auto expo and in the last two years also launched the LPG & Diesel variants of the same. GM now wants to add more spice by giving the Beat a minor facelift.
The exteriors receive many changes – re-profiled front and rear bumpers, reshaped honeycomb grille that houses a slightly bigger Chevy bow-tie emblem, new fog lamps, new modified headlamps and taillamps, new alloys wheels (14/15-inch) along with a new spoiler with integrated LED brake lights.
The interiors have received some tweaks too – there’s a new LCD screen, new materials used all around and optional cruise control.
GM has revealed a new global engine family that will power the Beat and rest of its models worldwide. This engine family has motors ranging from 1 litre to 1.4 litres and will have a three and four-cylinder setup. So the new Beat in future could be powered by the new range of Ecotec engines.
The company has also announced that it will produce an all-electric version of the Spark (Beat) called the Spark EV. It will be sold in limited quantities in select US and global markets starting from 2013.
