Maruti Suzuki new Swift booking shave crossed 90 thousand. This is some great news for the company but it does not seem so. A week-long standoff with workers at its factory in Manesar has severely disrupted the production of the new car.
Maruti Suzuki said that it produced 200 cars at its Manesar plant, at which the company is facing labour troubles, four days after it started the second unit at the factory.
Over the past seven days till Sunday, only 500 cars, all Swift, have rolled out of Manesar, which should have produced some 8,400 cars in that period.
Dealers across the country have stopped taking fresh bookings; they reckon the slowdown in production will result in delivery periods stretching up to eight months, and perhaps even more for select variants.
This could severely hit the sales of the car and could make the customers frustrated forcing them to look at other options.
Some cars which could benefit from this effect are the VW Polo, Nissan Micra, Skoda Fabia, Honda Jazz, Toyota Etios Liva and the upcoming Honda Brio.
